Clubs & Societies
CODE OF CONDUCT

All clubs and societies are affiliated to Lancaster University Students Union and are therefore bound by the Union regulations and constitution.

Club/Society: Women’s Football

The Aims of the Club/Society:
To teach, train and compete for the University at football.

The following constitutes the clubs/societies procedures which must be followed by all members so that all activities are carried out safely:

Area of activity: Match Play
Procedures to follow
It is the captains responsibility:
• To ensure that a first aider, full first aid kit and mobile phone is in attendance at all matches.
• To ensure that correct footwear is worn by all the players; checks will be made before the game and anyone not wearing the correct footwear will not be allowed to play.
• To ensure that the playing surface is in an acceptable condition. Checks will be made before the game and if the pitch is not deemed acceptable and it is not safe then the venue will be changed or the game will be postponed.
• To have the floodlights switched on if visibility is poor. If there are no floodlights or there is not adequate lighting then the venue will be changed or the game will be postponed.
• To ensure that all players are accounted for at all times. When travelling a head count will be taken whilst boarding the coach at both ends of travel and after every stop.
• To inspect the goalposts before the game, if they are found to be faulty then the venue will be changed or the will be game postponed.
• To inspect all playing equipment before the game and if relevant any problems will be reported to the Sports Centre; broken equipment will not be used until it is repaired or replaced.
• To promote good sportsmanship at all times. It is also crucial that players are aware of the rules; players must follow the rules and listen to the referee.
• To lead a thorough warm up before the game and a warm down after the match, all players must participate in the warm up and cool down.
• To inform players with medical conditions that they must consult their doctor and follow the doctors advice in regard to playing sport. Players must have their medication with them at all times.
• To remind players that all jewellery must be removed or covered before the match. The Captain and Referee will check that all jewellery is removed before the game begins.
• To ensure players are aware of the dangers of dehydration and encourage players to take on liquids before, during and after the game. Players must take sufficient fluids with them to a game.
• To be aware of the weather conditions and to postpone training if the conditions cause play to become unsafe.
It is the safety officers responsibility to ensure;
• That spectators are a safe distance from the pitch at the start of the game, and to ensure they are aware of the dangers and not interfering with the game.

• Playing in a remote location
• Slip, trip or fall
• The Pitch
• The Public
• Poor Visibility
• Coach travel
• Broken, unstable goals
• Vicious game play
• Ineffective/ no warm up/down
• Medical conditions
• Jewellery
• Dehydration.
• Adverse Conditions on the Astroturf.

Area of activity: Socials
Procedures to follow
It is the social secretary’s responsibility:
• To regularly check that all members are present on the social. Whilst using transport a head count will be taken when leaving every stop.
• To encourage everyone to drink water so as to avoid becoming dehydrated.
• To ensure that no drinking games are promoted by the club.
• To ensure everyone drinks sensibly and no-one is forced to do something they don’t want to.
• To ensure members safely get home if they get too inebriated.
• To ensure that there is one sober member of the exec on every social to supervise the group, deal with any situations which arise and to enforce the above.

Duty of Care
Please note that on top of the above procedures, all individual members of the club owe a Duty of Care to fellow members of the club and other clubs, and where appropriate the public. Any club member who acts in such a way as to deliberately cause harm or injury to a fellow member and/or who displays open and persistent disregard for the clubs Code of Practice will be disciplined by the club executive committee and may face expulsion from the club.
